PS4 will not be backwards compatible with PS3 Games. Not worth the Hype.
PS3 Has been around for quite some time, Many people, Like myself, have built up quite a collection of PS3 games. At $60 bucks a piece, having even 10 or more games in your library is an investment. With that investment, lets not forget the original $300 price tag that the gaming console originally cost, as well as an extra controller ( since the console only includes one). After several years of PS3 ownership, and quite an investment into games and peripherals, why would Sony come out with a PS4 that is NOT compatible to play your PS3 Library?
It mostly has to do with the architecture of the hardware. The article that I read, explained this in detailed laymans terms. So while I CAN understand why Sony is doing this, but I can't say that I agree with it. I don't see us upgrading to a PS4 anytime soon, just for the simple fact that it won't be able to play the games that we have already invested several hundred dollars into. The little bit of processor boost would just not be worth it, especially since the games I still want to play will not work. The only other option would be to have both a PS3 and a PS4 and since the PS4 would need it's own game library, I don't see it being worth it. I am not impressed Sony, Not one bit.
If you want more detail into how the change in architecture relates to the issues with the games being backward compatible then
